The Local Board of Health and the County Board of Supervisors -
General Introduction

 

In this section, you will be introduced to working with the County Board of Supervisors. You will learn how the local board of health is a part of the local government structure, and how you are appointed. As a member of the board of health, you are the official representative of residents that you serve.

You will also receive an introduction to the adoption of rules and regulations of the board of health. Your role will include reviewing local public health regulations and ordinances.

This unit will also discuss your relationship with the County Board of Supervisors and the appropriation of tax funds that will be used for the operations of public health in your county or district.
