1.2.3.8 Denture Stomatitis

Denture Stomatitis

Inflammation of the tissues underneath a denture. Caused by poor hygiene of the denture and not removing it at night. Characterized by red, swollen tissue that may be painful and possibly associated with a candida infection. The blue arrow indicates inflamed skin (in the area covered by the denture), and the yellow arrow indicates normal skin color (area not covered by the denture).
