Welcome to Successful Student Internships: Tips and Tools for Supervisors
Overview
This training equips supervisors and organizational leaders with practical strategies to effectively onboard, mentor, and manage student interns, creating a positive and productive experience for both interns and the organization. Participants will learn how to foster engagement, provide meaningful work opportunities, and ensure interns contribute successfully to short-term projects while developing professional skills.
Intended Audience
- Supervisors and leaders in public health-related fields who oversee or plan to host student interns
- Educators, program coordinators, HR professionals, and managers in other sectors who host student interns or manage internship programs
Pre-requisites/Learning Level
Ability to read and understand spoken English.
Learning Objectives
- Integrate interns into the workplace for short-term projects
- Recognize tools to assist with managing interns as they contribute to the work of the organization
- Identify resources to recruit competent and qualified interns
- Demonstrate effective communication strategies to set clear expectations, provide feedback, and maintain positive relationships with interns
